General Information

Salisbury Softball is divided into three divisions: 1 instructional  and 2 instructional but more competitive divisions.

At registration, each player enrolling in our program will be placed into one of these divisions based on age.  Please keep in mind that SYA Softball uses a "sport eligibility date” of January 1 in determining the ages of girls that compete in our programs.  This means that the age of the girl on January 1 determines the age she will be considered for the coming Spring season.  In some instances, particularly in the competitive divisions, there are players which possess some exceptional skills and desire to "play up” in a higher division of play. This is allowable and requires some additional coordination with the division commissioners as well as a player evaluation to determine if this is appropriate.

League Age Requirements:

  • 8U Preparation/Instructional:  Ages 5-8
  • 10U Minors: Ages 8-10
  • 12U Majors: Ages 10-12

Overview of Play:

  • Seasons run from middle/end of March thru mid June.  We usually finish up around the same time as the end of the school year.

  • First couple of weeks are practices, then games with other teams in their divisions.

  • Practices/games could be any night of the week and/or Saturdays.  The days may vary from week to week.

  • Weekday times will most likely be 6:00pm or 6:15pm start until about 7:30pm or 8:00pm.

  • Saturday times would be anytime between 9am and 4pm.

  • Sundays are typically avoided unless we run into rain issues.

  • Games are approximately 1 hour for 8U and up to 2 hours for 10U & 12U.
